Heber Valley Camp

It is the purpose of every missionary serving at the Heber Valley Camp, to help Young Women:
Feel the Savior's Love
Receive and Recognize Personal Revelation
Strengthen Relationships
Resolve to Stand as a Witness of God

Living Arrangements

Heber Valley Camp is operated by approximately 110 missionary couples, and a few single sister missionaries. Most missionaries live in their own recreational vehicles on the camp, with full hookups and all utilities provided. The camp has a small number of cabins for missionaries, but the waiting list for a cabin can be a year or longer.

Couples bring a UTV or ATV for transportation around the camp and its 35 miles of trails, and to get themselves from their RV or Cabin, to their work location.

Missionaries in 2024 will pay rent of $400 per month for an RV space or $700 per month for a cabin (if available). This monthly cost includes electricity, water, and propane for the RVs, and gasoline for ATVs and UTVs.

See FAQ (below) for additional information.

Missionary Assignments

Missionaries are interviewed at the beginning of the camping season by the Heber Valley Camp Mission Presidency. Assignments to serve are then made by the mission presidency where missionaries generally serve for the length of the summer season. Training is provided by Zone Leaders who oversee each of the Zone assignments.

Challenge Course Zone

Missionary couples assigned to the challenge courses assist campers on high ropes courses, and low challenge courses. They lead discussions called "Reflections" to guide campers in finding deeper meaning in every activity. They help Young Women and other campers, build testimony in the Savior as they relate challenges on the camp, to challenges in life.

Grounds Maintenance Zone

These missionaries ensure the campground remains a "temple on the mountain". They maintain the health and beauty of the campsites. They are involved in service projects with campers to maintain trails, fire rings, and building grounds. They lead efforts to remove downed trees, split logs for firewood, and to make the camp a place where the Spirit may dwell.

Legacy Lake Zone

Missionaries assigned to the lake, maintain a safe, and fun environment for Young Women and other campers to enjoy the water in a canoe or pedal boat. They provide safety guidelines and remove Young Women from the water when needed.

Mountain Maintenance Zone

These couples manage the thousands of acres outside of the campgrounds. They perform weed eradication, operate heavy equipment, maintain trails and signage. They also make presentations to Young Women groups and help to bring Young Women closer to the Savior.

Public Safety Zone

Missionaries assigned here ensure the safety of all Young Women and leaders arriving at the camp. They operate the "Welcome Center", provide security, and help move campers to where they need to be. They lead the Tomahawk Toss activities and lead "Tomahawk Reflections" and other presentations. They deal with emergencies on the camp if they occur.

Camp Host Zone

Missionary Couples reside in one of the 8 campgrounds, to assist stake and ward leaders along with other campers by providing support and logistical help. They assist with service projects, make presentations to YW campers, keep the facilities in order, and support campers as needed.

Building Maintenance

Duties include upkeep of buildings and other facilities. Those with experience in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, painting, heavy equipment operation, and related fields are especially needed. Sisters, (accompanied by their husband) will be asked to prepare and give a 30 minute presentation entitled “I Feel My Savior’s Love” to various young women groups. As a couple you will also be asked to facilitate and “Reflect” with various groups on the Challenge Course. Some duties require strenuous physical activity.
